500 |a Attributed to Strong by Evans and in: Bates, A.C. "Checklist of Connecticut almanacs." Proceedings of the American Antiquarian Society, n.s. v. 24 (1914): 102, 124. The title pages of Strong's almanacs for 1806 and 1807 published at New Haven identify Strong as the author of those formerly issued under the pseudonym of Hosea Stafford.
500 |a This almanac contains the first appearance in the "Stafford" series of the table called "Variation of the sun and clock" (p. [4]) which subsequently characterized most Strong almanacs. It is found in nearly all the "Stafford" issues henceforward.
500 |a Simultaneously with this issue, Strong published the first of his long series of signed almanacs (1782-1809): An astronomical ephemeris, calender, or almanack for 1782, by N.S. (Hartford: Hudson & Goodwin).
