Description
Summary:In episode 5 we see somewhat softer anaesthetic drugs being tested on nyalas. The early morning air is cool, and still. This is the best time of the day to look for animals. It is also the best time for Wild Life Vets to catch them. The animals suffer far less stress now than they would during the heat of the day. In the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve in Natal, Dave Cooper has an enormous patch to look after- some 97 -thousand hectares with a wide variety of game. With them is Douw Grobler- a vet from the Kruger National Park, who has joined Dave Cooper for the tests because of the widespread interest in the drug, and the possibility of registering it for use in South Africa. Also in this edition: one in the eye for Bismark; and a gnusflash.
