Another state of STC 7222, with an added engraved title page printed on [A]1r and an engraved portrait on [A]2v. The engraved title reads "Poems by Michael Drayton Esquyer. .."; the portrait is signed: Wil. Hole scul. "Englands heroicall epistles", "Idea", "Odes", "The legends of Robert, Duke of Normandie ...", "The owle", and "Pastorals" each have separate title page dated 1619; pagination and register are continuous. Identified as STC 7222a at reel 594:8. Appears at reel 594 (Folger Shakespeare Library copy) and at reel 1955 (Cambridge University Library copy). Item at reel 594:8: t.p. is pen facsimile of STC 7222.5, done on verso of genuine portrait. Reproductions of the originals in the Folger Shakespeare Library and Cambridge University Library. |
