En route to "your house," a mischievous witch stops at creepy locales to pick up ghosts and mummies: "Hop aboard, there's always room/ for a howling, growling Werewolf,/ and a lurking, smirking Vampire/ to ride this broom." Melmed (The Rainbabies) provides serviceable cumulative rhymes, while Cole (Moosetache) designs standard-issue ghouls and prankish labels for specimen jars and headstones ("Claire Voyant, Sandy Beech [`she was all washed up']"). Last year's genial Room on the Broom, by Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffler, offers a bouncier ride. Ages 3-8. (Sept.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved
